The OSAA governs all contests and practices in the State Of Oregon and has specific guidelines for Air quality.
You can find the current AQI (Air Quality Index) here:
https://www.airnow.gov/?city=Bend&state=OR&country=USA
The following guidelines for the AQI (Air Quality Index) apply:
0-50: Operate as Normal
51-100: Students who are unusually sensitive to air pollution should consider indoor activities only. Athletes with asthma should have rescue inhalers readily available and pretreat before exercise if directed by their healthcare provider. All athletes with respiratory illness, asthma, lung or heart disease should monitor symptoms and reduce/cease activity if symptoms arise. Increase rest periods as needed.
101-150: Because they involve strenuous activity for prolonged periods of time, all outdoor contests shall be canceled or moved to an area with a lower AQI. Practice shall be no longer than 90 minutes total for the day. Level of activity should be less than “normal” practice session and include rest periods. Students who are unusually sensitive to air pollution should consider indoor activities only. Athletes with asthma should have rescue inhalers readily available and pretreat before exercise if directed by their healthcare provider. All athletes with respiratory illness, asthma, lung or heart disease should monitor symptoms and reduce/cease activity if symptoms arise.
151 and up: All activities cancelled.
